MECHANICAL DESIGNER

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree REQUIRED in Mechanical/HVAC or Architectural Engineering

  • 0-2 years’ experience

  • Knowledge of designing HVAC systems for buildings

  • Knowledge of building and energy codes

  • Knowledge of current Autodesk software including Revit and Autocad 

  • Ability to prioritize tasks with attention to detail

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Desire to grow professionally in a small company environment and support the continued growth of our firm by providing excellent work

Responsibilities

  • THIS ROLE IS AN ENTRY LEVEL POSITION, AND WILL WORK UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF A LICENSED ENGINEER

  • Evaluate various HVAC design options including air distribution and hydronic systems

  • Selection and scheduling of major HVAC equipment

  • Prepare cooling/heating load calculations

  • Coordinate mechanical design with other disciplines

  • Perform system design layout and sizing

  • Process models received from the client into MEP construction models for use in preparation of deliverables

  • Prepare electronic drawings with accuracy, neatness, and efficiency using industry software

  • Attend project meetings with clients, trade partners, consultants and internal team members

  • Perform clash detection in Revit as collisions are identified by the design team

  • Communicate with team members, project managers, other disciplines, and outside vendors to obtain necessary information for completion of design

  • Assemble the MEP drawings into an organized deliverable package

  • Assist in data collection and/or field verification

  • Construction administration including construction site visits to monitor the progress and quality of the installed mechanical systems

  • Ensure that company standards are maintained on all deliverables

  • Enhance office standard Revit model project templates, families, details, and other content
