The Select Medical healthcare system includes specialty hospital and rehabilitation facilities across the country specializing in critical illness recovery. Together with The Heart Hospital of Plano this project provides a Long-Term Acute Care Hospital within the existing Heart Hospital. 

The project scope includes 23,000 square feet of finished out shell space on the 4th floor in the existing Hospital including 30 acute care beds. This facility is a separately licensed entity from the host Hospital, therefore the project scope also included all departments required for a stand-alone hospital including dietary, pharmacy, lab, and emergency services.  

Working in an existing, operational Hospital presents complicated phasing strategies and close coordination with the existing MEP hospital infrastructure. Technically challenging projects such as this fit directly into Certus’s core area of expertise. The scope included infrastructure upgrades necessary to support the LTACH, as well as MEP upgrades required to comply with current codes and standards.
