Children’s Health Specialty Center Dallas – MRI Project

The MRI Suite project at the Specialty Cetner in Dallas involved a multi-phased project to add one new MRI to the existing imaging center along with patient care, nursing staff, and administrative support spaces. This project addressed the facility’s growing need for advanced diagnostic imaging to support its expanding patient base and enhance its capabilities in precision medicine.

Designing and constructing an MRI suite within an operational facility requires meticulous planning and design. The high-powered magnet necessitates specialized shielding to prevent electromagnetic interference with nearby equipment while ensuring patient and staff safety. Integrating this complex infrastructure into the existing space involved coordinating mechanical, electrical, and structural systems with exacting precision. The project team also had to navigate the logistical challenges of working in a live healthcare environment to minimize disruptions. A few key features specific to the MRI include a dedicated power condition to mitigate electrical noise and provide clean scans. It also incorporated color changing lighting specifically geared towards calming the pediatric patients intended for treatment.
